Carnival celebrations are round the corner and the Valletta Waterfront plays its part, turning more colourful and playful. Large hand-crafted masks on the façade and artistic performances put this magical place in theatrical mood, encouraging visitors to enter a world of colour, fun and fantasy.
A full programme of activities kicks off on Friday 12 February at 6pm with animators, including a stilt walker, juggler and balloon modeller, who will be providing entertainment for the young ones, keeping them active at all times.
On Saturday 13 February, small games are organised by the animators in the morning and repeated in the evening, enhanced by more dancing and music by a live six-piece band. Maskaruni will also be on display serving as an interesting backdrop for some photos with a difference.

A Carnival Experience at the Valletta Waterfront will also take place on Thursday morning and Saturday evening. Situated within the bastion stores behind the promenade, this exhibition will include an eclectic and colourful display of carnival costumes, a photographic exhibition dating back to Carnival editions of the late 1940s.
Carnival Sunday features another full day of activities, with jugglers in the morning and live animation and entertainment in the evening. A live six-piece band will turn the Valletta Waterfront promenade into an open-air Carnival celebration with uptempo, Latin and Samba numbers. Patrons can also enjoy colourful performances from different Carnival dancing groups in full costume along the promenade.

On Monday evening, apart from further performances from Carnival dancing groups, a special Carnival parade will be held for the young ones with different characters.
"The Valletta Waterfront is synonymous with leisure and entertainment and this year's programme of activities lives up to this reputation," said Joshua G. Giordimaina, Business Development Executive of VISET Malta, developers and operators of the Valletta Waterfront. "Whether it is a meal along the (heated) water's edge watching the merry carnival world go by or just strolling along with stilt walkers or jugglers, the programme is tailor-made to cater for all our patrons' needs."
