€7,000 raised in aid of Puttinu Cares
01 February 2011
€7,000 were raised during a 12-hour marathon that was held on Sunday 30th January at Valletta Waterfront.
Martial Arts vs Rock Bands sees local rock bands and martial arts schools vie for the public attention in a bid to outdo each other in the sums they raise to assist children needing cancer treatment abroad and their carers.
Without this assistance it would otherwise run into thousands as most cases would require repeat treatment. "Our assistance ensures that logistics and financial hurdles are lifted off these families who are already burdened with the pain and challenges of cancer and enable them instead to focus on giving their full support to their vulnerable children," says Rennie Zerafa, staff nurse at Puttinu Cares.
The fundraising effort was also greatly assisted by donations raised through a display by the Old Motors Club, the Classic Sports Cars Club Malta and the Hal Far Model Association. A lively Zumba performance by Graziella made sure that kids also enjoyed this day.
Now in its third edition, this 12-hour marathon has raised over €21,000 in aid of the Puttinu Cares Foundation.
