Chinese Navy in Valletta, Malta

Two frigates and a supply ship of the Chinese Navy have arrived in Valletta, Malta on a rare visit.

The modern, Chinese-designed Huangshan and Hengshan and the replenishment ship Qinghaihu, sailed in, watched by several people on vantage points around the port.  The task force has just concluded a four-month anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden, providing security escort to civilian and commercial vessels of various nationalities including Maltese.

A warm welcome was organised by the Chinese Embassay and the local Chinese community.

The naval units are berthed at Valletta Cruise Port and will be open to the public for viewing between 9.00hrs and 12.00hrs on Wednesday 26th March and between 14.00hrs and 17.00hrs on Thursday 27th March.
